4 Decks. Medium (80%). Mostly Skill.
To move all the cards to the foundations.
| • | 8 foundation piles (across top) - build up in suit from the rank of first card dealt to the first pile, wrapping from King to Ace as necessary, until each pile contains 26 cards (twice around each suit). Only two piles for each suit allowed. |
| • | 12 tableau piles (below foundations) - build first 5 piles (left of gap) down by alternate color. Build remaining 7 piles (right of gap) down in suit, wrapping from Ace to King if necessary in both cases. Move groups of cards if they form a legal descending sequence for that pile. Spaces can be filled by any card or legal group of cards. At the start of the game 1 card is dealt each to the left 5 piles, and 12 cards are dealt to each of the remaining 7 piles. |
| • | stock (top left, face down) - turn over 1 card at a time to the waste by clicking. Two redeals. |
| • | The tableau piles are divided into two parts: the Left tableau and the Right tableau, divided by a line. The 5 Left tableau piles are built down by alternate color. The 7 Right tableau piles are built down in suit. Groups of cards may be moved from one tableau pile to another, if they form a legal descending sequence in their current pile. For example, a sequence down by alternate color may be moved from the Left tableau to the Right, since that is the legal sequence for the Left tableau. However, a sequence down by alternate color cannot be moved from the Right tableau to the Left, since that sequence is not legal on the Right. These kinds of groups transfers are called "shifts". Shifts of groups down by alternate color are allowed from Left to Right, while shifts of down in suit cards are allowed from Right to Left. Once a shift has been made, the cards in the groups cannot again be moved as a group, since they will no longer be a legal group for their side of the tableau. |
| • | The secret to success is strategic shifting between the the left tableau and the right tableau. |
